Rebekah Bourland has just received the 2004 Tom Connor Award for Community Service at the Peoria Area Chamber of Commerce's annual Thanksgiving Luncheon. The Tom Connor Award is given annually to someone who has been a major civiv force for good in Peoria. For those of us who know her, she is well deserving of the honor. Rebekah's list of accomplishments is long, but it has always revolved around Peoria.
I met her at Corn Stock, the local theatre in the park. She directed Driving Miss Daisy and I was Stage Manager. Working closely with her you could see how she always moved everything forward, taking care to get everyone on board to her concept.
Today she is chairwoman of the Civic Center Authority and still moving everyone forward as they plan for the first major expansion in 20 years. Congratulations and keep up the good work - I know you will!
